Wangai Returns as Blue Eagles Boost Attack
Soy United Football Club is delighted to announce the return of striker Mohammed Affelay Wangai, who has rejoined the club on a permanent deal from FKF Division Zone D side Hillside FC, marking the first mid-season acquisition.
The move marks Wangai’s second stint with the Blue Eagles, following a one-year spell with the Lodwar-based outfit. Renowned for his eye for goal, the former Kajiado FC talisman brings experience, depth and leadership to Soy United’s attacking unit as the club intensifies preparations for the FKF National Super League 2025/26 season.
Speaking after sealing his comeback, the seasoned forward expressed his delight at returning to familiar surroundings, describing Soy as a place he calls home.
“I’m pleased to be back here once again; Soy is like a home to me. My return signifies that I’m here to improve myself and help the club achieve its goals,” Wangai told the club’s media team. When quizzed about his personal ambitions, Wangai was clear about his intentions — to compete for a starting role, score goals and repay the faith shown by the club and its supporters.
“First, I want to work hard and earn a place in the starting team on match days, score at least 10 goals, and help the squad achieve its set ambitions by the end of the season,” he added.
Wangai initially joined Soy United in February 2024 during the club’s campaign in the FKF Division Two Western Zone B League, where he netted nine goals. His contributions proved vital as the team secured promotion to the FKF Division One Zone B in the 2024/25 season and winning the Karamoja Super Cup before his move to Hillside FC in February last year.
The striker is in contention for selection ahead of Sunday’s home fixture against Mwatate United at the ASK Showground, Eldoret.
