MATCH PREVIEW: Soy United keen on redemption against visiting Talanta
FKF National Super League Round 24 action takes centre stage across the country today, with one of the headline fixtures seeing Soy United host FC Talanta at Ndura Sports Complex in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County.
The Blue Eagles head into this clash seeking redemption after a difficult run of form that has seen them lose three matches in a row. The results have seen Soy United slip from 5th to 9th place in the NSL standings, and the hosts will be eager to turn things around and return to winning ways in front of their home fans.
On the other hand, former Kenyan Premier League side FC Talanta arrive in high spirits after registering three consecutive victories. Talanta will be looking to extend their impressive run as they continue their push for a return to the top-flight league.
The two sides meet for the second time this season, with Soy United keen to avenge the narrow 2–1 defeat they suffered in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign.
Soy United will however be without several key players. Assistant captain Samuel Khaemba is ruled out with a knock, while midfielder Erick Namasaka also misses out through injury. January mid-season recruit Victor Maliachi will be unavailable for a second consecutive match due to a hamstring injury sustained in training two weeks ago. Goalkeeper Robert Omuse will also miss the match as he attends to personal matters at home.
On a positive note, striker Dennis Shigami returns to the matchday squad after missing last weekend’s encounter against 3K FC in Embu.
Ahead of the clash, assistant coach Owen Makokha emphasized the need for urgency, sharpness, and discipline as the team prepares to face a strong opponent.
“We have had a good week of training, the morale among the boys is high and they are ready to face Talanta. We have advised them to stay sharp and maintain discipline throughout the 90 minutes,” said Makokha.
Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM, an adjustment made due to prevailing weather conditions. Match tickets will be available at the gate at a flat rate of Ksh 100/-.
