MATCH DAY PREVIEW: Kibera Blackstars VS Soy United.

Soy United return to league action this afternoon as the FKF National Super League resumes following a two-week mid-season break, with Round 19 fixtures taking center stage.

The Blue Eagles travel to Gems Cambridge International School in Karen, Nairobi, where they will face Kibera Blackstars in a bid to maintain their impressive 2026 unbeaten form in the capital. The hosts, meanwhile, will be eager to bounce back after their recent defeat to Vihiga United in the league and an early elimination from the domestic cup, the Mozzart Bet Cup.

MATCH PREVIEW
Heading into this Valentine’s Day showdown, Soy United sit sixth on the log with 32 points from 19 matches, while Kibera Blackstars occupy eighth position with 28 points from the same number of games.

This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides since their first encounter in the 2020/21 Betika National Super League campaign. Soy United hold a solid record in this fixture, remaining unbeaten in the last three meetings; registering two wins and a draw.

The most recent clash came in November 2025, when goals from Joseph Wafula and Clinton Oriffah secured a 2-0 victory for Soy United at ASK Showground in Eldoret.

TEAM NEWS
Head coach Jeffers Odongo will be targeting his second away win of the season but faces selection challenges ahead of the tie. Soy United will be without three key players; Vincent Cliff (suspension), Jephtha Okiring, (illness) and John Khanda (compassionate leave)

Cliff is suspended after receiving a red card in the previous outing against Migori Youth, while Okiring - January’s Player of the Month misses out through illness. Khanda remains unavailable as he attends to personal matters.
On a positive note, several new signings from the mid-season transfer window have been included in the travelling squad, with one set to make his debut in the starting XI and others expected to strengthen the bench.

CAPTAIN'S REMARKS.
Club captain Kevin Odira has called for focus and determination ahead of what he anticipates will be a challenging encounter.

“We need to be very aware of them. They have had some inconsistent results recently but that doesn’t guarantee us a win. We must show up with the great character and team spirit we have expressed in previous outings,” he told the club press.
