MATCH PREVIEW: Soy United vs Migori Youth - NSL Round 19

The Blue Eagles return to action this afternoon with a high-stakes home clash against FKF National Super League leaders Migori Youth FC at the ASK Showgrounds, Eldoret.

The fixture marks the third meeting between the two promotion hopefuls. Their first encounter dates back to the 2020/21 season, when Soy United claimed a 1–0 victory at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega in January 2021. The return leg at Migori Stadium was later abandoned due to a natural calamity.

Both sides head into today’s encounter in red-hot form, boasting a 100% record in 2026 so far. Soy United have registered five consecutive wins, while Migori Youth have secured three straight victories in January.
Soy United remain unbeaten at home this season, having played nine matches at the ASK Showground; winning eight and drawing once, against Vihiga United in early December 2025. That impressive home run will be key as they look to unsettle the league leaders.

Migori Youth, on the other hand, have proven formidable both home and away, with four away victories under the guidance of head coach Sammy Otulo.
Currently sitting sixth on the log, Soy United will be banking on their strong home form to cause an upset and close the gap to the promotion places.

Team News
Soy United will be without winger Erick Masafu, who misses out due to a nose injury sustained during Wednesday’s 1–0 win over Gucha Stars. He is replaced by James Macharia, who returns after sitting out matches against Mwatate United and Gucha Stars.
Also unavailable is experienced winger John Khanda, who is out due to bereavement.

Assistant coach Owen Makokha has emphasized respect for the visitors but insists his side will not be overawed by Migori Youth’s impressive form.
“We have had a successful drill for this game. We’ve made some adjustments in all departments and we believe the boys will implement everything on the day,” said Makokha.

He also urged fans to turn up in large numbers to provide the extra push.
“Our fans have been good to us this season, and I thank them for the support. We need them once again in this clash against Migori to push us until the last minute,” added the former Naivas FC gaffer.
