MATCH REPORT: Blue Eagles Stun Mwatate to Extend Winning Run

Soy United continued their impressive form in the FKF National Super League after edging out visiting Mwatate United 1–0 at the ASK Showground in Eldoret earlier today, extending their winning streak to four matches and remaining unbeaten in five outings.

The hosts started the match on the front foot, asserting early dominance over Mwatate’s defense. In the 9th minute, striker Alfred Ratolo cleverly set up winger John Khanda, whose effort narrowly missed the target.

Soy kept piling on the pressure and came close again five minutes later when Elvis Shamala delivered a pinpoint cross into the box. Erick Namasaka rose highest to meet it with a well-timed header, but his effort crashed against the woodwork. The intense afternoon heat forced the match officials to call for a cooling break in the 22nd minute.

The breakthrough arrived midway through the first half when Alfred Ratolo calmly passed the ball into the net, finishing off a well-weighted cross from John Khanda on the left flank to give Soy a 1–0 lead at the break. The second half saw a spirited response from Mwatate United, who pushed hard in search of an equalizer and enjoyed more possession. However, despite being the better side after the restart, their efforts failed to bear fruit.

Head coach Jeffers Odongo made tactical changes in the 58th minute, introducing new signing Mohammed Wangai and Joseph Wafula in place of goal scorer Alfred Ratolo and Erick Namasaka. Mwatate coach Evans Mafuta also responded with substitutions to counter Soy’s adjustments.
Soy later made a triple change, bringing on Dennis Shigami, Erick Masafu, and Kevin Odira to see out the game. The hosts remained resolute in defense and held on to secure a vital 1–0 victory at full time.

The win lifts Soy United to 7th place in the NSL standings with 28 points from 17 matches, climbing two places from last match week. The NSL newcomers will return to action on Wednesday when they host Gucha Stars at the same venue.
